Shawn
Fitness is for fun and staying healthy; that’s Shawn’s motto. After retiring from a long career in law enforcement, Shawn became a NASM certified trainer. Staying fit is how to avoid the effects of stress and the pitfalls of an inactive life. Life is too short and it’s never too late to start feeling good. As a retired person himself, Shawn understands the aging body! And is happy to help you find a workout that best suits your situation.
Shawn’s also enjoys golfing, wood working, knitting (yes knitting!), and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Melissa
Melissa Rishel is a Tuolumne County native. She is a certified NASM personal trainer with more than a decade of experience in fitness. Melissa also enjoys teaching group exercise classes, such as Spin/RPM, Bodypump, TRX and water aerobics to name a few. Melissa is passionate about health and fitness. She believes that a positive and healthy lifestyle leads to living your best life. Melissa began exercising to combat stress and depression and has successfully managed to stay mentally and physically healthy ever since! She is pleased to be able to offer her services for the members at Sonora Sports and Fitness.
Fees
Every member receives three complimentary sessions with a personal trainer every calendar year. Free sessions are scheduled by clicking a black button, above. After your complimentary sessions, please discuss rates with trainer as they vary depending on service and trainer.

*Fees are established by individual trainers, based on the level of training that is required for their client’s goals and capabilities. Complimentary training sessions may be used by members to create their own individual fitness program, learn how to safely use exercise equipment, or discuss health and fitness related topics.
